Episode: 04 Emily Sage

Emily Sage invited us into her peaceful Charlotte apartment that she shares with her husband. Morning light bounced around the room, reflected by hundreds of small crystals hanging in the window beside her desk — a prop saved from her music video for “Cold Moon by the Sea.”

In the spirit of her ‘Love Songs & Lullabies’ aesthetic, Emily’s performances reflected her masterful control of vocals and instrumentation. She shared her love for songwriting, Portuguese romantics, and the tender moments found within her live shows.

“Emily Sage is an award-winning Independent Songwriter, Producer, Composer, and Soundscape artist. Sage’s music has strong leanings in jazz, soul, and cinema and her romantic songwriting style is largely influenced by her time spent growing up in Portugal.

Emily Sage studied Songwriting and Music Business at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Looking for a space to build her career and develop her vision, Emily Sage moved to Charlotte, NC. She started an intimate concert series called CLT Loft Sessions in the summer of 2018 so that she could curate the full experience of her concerts. She invited local independent artists to perform at those concerts as well and after the success of the first Loft Session, every event since has sold out. Sage has more recently gotten involved in the world of cinema as a composer with song placements and scoring in award-winning shorts and feature films. She is also a soundscape artist creating score and sound for art installations.”
